    Dreambox Newbie

    Hi All

After a little help please, rather than ask all my questions is there a tutorial that can explain how to operate a dbox and guides on all the different software/firmware to load ect and other functions of the box it seems a lot to take in for someone who has just come across it. I currently use a blade7000 but its a little basic and would like more features if possible.

Also what box would be recommended a real one or a clone and whats the difference between the two? I am looking at a 800 model.

    Thank you

    Stu

Dreambox 800hd is pretty easy to flash with web browser method.
Once flashed its a question of setting up the network so you can download CCcams and add a bouquet.
All of which are in the red stickies,if you get stuck pm me but everything can be found on the forum using the search button.

Thank you so much for the reply Andy

I am just about to buy my first Dbox and looking at the DM800SE SIM 2.10 D6 , does this sound like a good box to go for? Don't quite get the sim 2.10 part?

        Thank you

I'd recommend you get a VU Solo or Uno....easier to flash but has the same features as the DM800.....might be a bit pricier tho.
No matter what you decide youll get support her for either box

Any reason why you want the SE?
More money than the Dreambox 800hd,the sim2.10 are the team behind the patched image for clone boxes.
They are meant to be the best team.

              Hi Andy

Honestly I am working blind here, I just figured more money more box. I really just want the 800 features, not really sure what the difference is, someone said get the pro over the SE but can't find a pro but now your recommending the 800HD , not sure what the sim2.10 is for but I would happy to save some money. I mainly want to use the c-line feature on the box and to be able to access the box via browser sounds awesome.

              So you think the 800HD?

Thank you again for your time sir.

Hi Stu,ive had an older Dreambox 800hd fo clone for a couple
of years and i cant fault it.
The newer boxes have a better tuner.
Most boxes are a bit flaky where you run into the odd problem but thats part of the learning curve.
You can buy a Dreambox 800hd Pro from China for about 100 quid delivered you wont be disappointed.
The Se is the latest 800 model it basically does the same but has a faster processor and colour oled display.
As with all boxes there are problems but this one seems to have timer issues, one of the reasons i stayed clear of it.
All a matter of opinion others on here love them.

                Andy.

thanks Andy but I am still not sure what box to buy, need one in a hurry as its coming over to the US for me to setup and then back to the UK to be plugged in....then back to me via a Slingbox Yeah I really like UK/Euro TV

Like I said C-Line will be used so which box do you think for ease of use seeing as I will be trying to operate it from long distance...will have someone available to help with it onsite if need be.

Best supported Dreambox out there mate barring the Dreambox 500s

So you think I should go with a Pro over the SE or 800HD?

m8 I have 3 dm800 HD clones and their fine I would get a cooling fan for it to sit on for about 2 quid on fleabay as they are known to run hot. It really depends on what u want to do. The dm800 can have a internal Hard drive so you can record to it. Its a single tuner so cant record and watch summat else. I dont understand the "Operate remotely" statement?

PS just reread your last post so the remote setup is now explained. If you just want HD channels via slingbox I would go for an openbox m8 (just to throw a spanner in the works) DM800 HD clones are great and you can tinker with them and as they are open source linux theres lots of addons but trying to manage it from the US wont be easy. The openbox is easy to setup in us before it gets shipped back to uk. all done via usb. just install cline and away you go. Downside its not open source linux so limited to what u can do
