DM800 dark motor not moving

I assume that remark was aimed at me, Although one member has had a go at me and then another so called jumps on the bandwagon so to speak. I shall now go through my original post and see who i was supposedly trying to put down.
This remark was to the OP asking where he could download a new DM800 image which this site has, the second part of the remark was aimed at the installer who came out to the OP and told him that his OpenPLI image is incompatible with his motor. The forum has a dedicated download section with plenty of DM800 images available, Not too sound pedantic but the guy who came out and says its an issue with the image is talking bollox
My remark here is to assure the OP that his motor is receiving power and the Blinking lights are normal, it was also to assure the OP because another member had posted earlier this remark. For one you have already stated there is power getting to the motor by the Green and Red blinking lights this is normal they only go solid when the motor is moving which you probably wont see being inside the house.
Nutsandbolts1) Green LED's should not be blinking but should be solid. If blinking check cable connections are secure. The above remark would only confuse the OP as this poster had clearly not read what the OP's equipment was in the first place, This refers to a technomate motor and not a Dark motor which the OP clearly has.4) If motor is fairly old it could be motor sensor problems. Do you get a red/orange light on???
This remark was to backup what i had experienced myself and member benny/9 has also experienced as well as others on the forums with Duo clones, This has been clearly documented on various posts so i was just reiterating that fact.benny/9 gives a valid point there have been a fair few SUPERIOR dark motors with faults i have had 2 myself and by reports on the forum it seems there may be a bad batch with an intermittent fault, The SUPREME LED version seems unaffected, Now the other problem could be your power supply on the clone 800 not giving enough juice to the motor and LNB at the same time.
My final remark was just a simple elimination process to see if either A. box was faulty/Power supply and or the Dark motor was faulty. My recommendation would be to rule out the 2 main factors which are the motor and the 800, only way to do this is have you another USALS capable receiver or do you know anyone that has one and it must be original and not another clone. You could try this on the setup first with the motor and then see if its a motor problem, if it works fine then it sounds like an 800 power supply problem if its still the same then its the motor.
Either way you need to through a process of elimination.
I am a little bemused where a member after reading that could be saying that i was flaming the OP.

Funny you saying that Maca i nearly put that myself.
My point is i find it hard having a go when someone offers advice whether its right or wrong.
All about peoples opinions, its not law you have to agree to it.

Hi again guys,
And thanks for everyone's input.
Just to reference Digicon: I have an original DM800HD PVR, not the clone. The motor was turning the dish for the short few moments, but at that time was missing the satellites by quite a bit (no signal, just similar direction). Therefore I think that we can eliminate the receiver not supplying enough power.
The reason that the installer thought this might be an image issue is because the motor was turning to the correct coordinates whet it was connected to his satellite locator box via the the cable unplugged from DM downstairs. I think that this eliminates that the cable is not adequate and it leaves me puzzled as to the fault of the motor. This elimination process does not work for me as it seems that tuner is working and the motor also, but together connected they refuse to communicate.
I got in touch with the http://www.syste****.co.uk, the guys who sold me the motor, explained the problems that I have experiencing and what the word about this motor is in the forums. They insist (what a surprise) that this is nothing to do with the motor, but blaming the DreamBox, in his words people has problems because faulty or low quality DM's (BUT MY BOX IS ORIGINALL!!!).
There, check below the procedure they offer as a possible solution, maybe it will be helpful to someone, I have yet to go through the motion and hope that it works!

Hi, we are currently going through our warehouse move at the moment so time for me is very rare, i'm having to reply to roughly 50 emails this evening (see the time of this email). Please keep in mind its written in general terms, faults like this can be solved either through settings or physically. I will do what i can to help you, however if the motor works if we decide to return under warranty there's not much else we can do. Sat-shop is still selling the motor and i doubt they will stop selling it.
This is a common problem which can be linked to several causes, eg: motor going to max position 60W or 60E. Not locating any stored Sat positions.
1. Incorrect saving of multi satellites. = linked to changing / restoring same sat positions, eg: corrupt DiSEqC 1.2 / USALS stored Date in receiver / motor. Or fault in receiver or motor
2. Water getting into the F connections or coax cable at the Motor or LNB F connections causing temp short which will corrupt stored DiSEqC date in reveiver / motor.
3. Damaged / kinked coax cable = cable angled/bent to tight can crush coax, this is linked to motor going to max position 60W or 60E.
4. incorrect standard of coax cable use on install, eg: RG6 coax cable max length of run with DiseqC motor 20mts, for runs over 20m - 50m use all copper coax cable Webro WF100.
Your receiver stores the DiSEqC settings & controls the motor + the motor also stores positions and can lock up or only move in small steps if it receives conflicting data from the receiver, another cause can be with the F connector connections just one of the outer braided wires crossing the inner copper live will cause a short, also the wrong length of the internal copper coax at the F connections (max 5mm) this can cause a short inside the Motor/Receiver/LNB.
To correct the corrupt stored DiSEQC 1.2 / USALS date you need to start as new install and setup receiver & motor.
1st factory/default WITH THE MOTOR CONNECTED (see receivers manual) this reset the receiver & clear any stored settings.
Next Delete all the Stored TV & Radio & Data Channels -- * Important -check you have *Delete all the stored # Radio & Data Channels.
Go into the receiver menu and find the motor DiSEqC 1.2 - USALS, use goto X ***8211; 0 setting, this will set the motor to 0, which should line up your dish @ True South, now use the receiver & remote control to find a satellite.
---------------
*Factory Default receiver - Will reset the Receiver to Factory Default & clear any Motor DiSEqC / USALS settings.
* Goto X ***8211; 0 Will reset the motor DiSEqC setting for all satellite position stored and send motor/dish to Default '0' position for USALS setup.
-----------
Before searching or storing satellites you must 1st do a Factory Default in the receivers Setup menu (info in receivers manual) with the Motor connected to clear any Stored satellite channels & Settings, then do 2nd Factory Default to 'Pair' the Motor with your receiver. Next Reset the Motor by Pressing Butttons - info in motors manual. Now start as new instal
Now start searching & storing satellite positions.
- find the 1st Sat THOR 3/5 /0.8W (bench mark alignment sat for '0' zero degrees) Satellite THOR 3/5 @0.8w set receiver on live channels transponder (BBC World channel = TP 11325H) then manual move the dish in small steps in all directions at approx position of the sat you want to receive signal from. looking for a signal / tone from the sat meter.
Next find another Sat - move the motor with your remote control watching for a good signal on both signal strength & quality bars in your receivers menu, - then Store the Sat position - Scan in channels, then the next sat, ect -
Try using the usals setup its more preceice when locating all the sat posititons, use the receivers USALS control - but first clear all the stored setting in the receiver & motor. see your receivers/manual for its USALS settings.
Let me know if you still have problem after doing the above procedure.
==========
Kind Regards,
