General advice needed please.

IN short, I had a dreambox installed at my property a while back along with a few tv packages on it, over time channels have started dropping off it.

The problem I have is the person that installed it has now left the country and I cant find anyone else with the skills to remedy my problem, however I have now started looking into doing it myself. The biggest problem I have straight away is I dont know the password to get into any of the maintenance parts of the dreambox. I have tried 0000 but had no joy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

He will have locked it to prevent you getting in. You will need to reflash wi same image or another then start again.

Thanks Scott, thats what I feared guess I am going to have to start doing some serious reading into how these work! I take it once I reflash it all the current channels that are on the box will be lost?

If its only some of the channels dropping off then you just need to rescan for the new frequencies. New channels will be in all services and then you can use the remote to edit out old channels and replace with the new ones.
If you want to change the password without flashing a new image Search "change dm500 password" in dreambox section as there are quite a few threads about the same thing.
