Dream Box With Mobile 3g Dongle

Hi Guys and probably girls too !!!

I joined yesterday, and if you google my name im not that one.

anyway with a good electronics background and the tutorials and of course google my dreambox is up and running whoop whoop.

However i have no intention of plugging it into my home broadband as i dont get up particulary early and would hate to be roused earlier than normal.....so for me 3g wirless dongle was the only way.

If you buy right you can get 3gb 90 days for ?10 off ebay .....according to the guides the packet data is very lo but the ping (response time) is crutial.

The problem with dongles is that they throttle down when not in demand ie hspa to 3g..the result was perfect pictures followed by a disruption / freeze/ pixalation for 3 seconds every 20 seconds.....

so we needed a program to run from the computer sending scripts .....we have found one and it works perfectly.....not my work but it does the job

my setup is as follows ...dreambox 500.....tp link 702 mobile 3g router and e353 3g dongle..........by running the program which sends 0 bytes and receives 8 bytes it keeps the hspa alive without swallowing bandwith....to googles serves in cmd in windows.

the tp link 702 is cheap and made in china.....router config menu is in chinese, its more expensive brother i think the 3020 is in english...they share the same running gear so buy yourself a 702 for around $5 usd in china flash and save yourself 20 quid....i have the modified flash file if anyone would like..

thankyou to all for your help and i hope you think i have brought something to the table on this one....

      hi jenny

my setup is as follows: i do not have broadband in my home so, i create a wifi hotspot on my android phone - i have a unlimited data plan. i then connect my dm800hd to my mobile phone hotspot - i have a belkin usb wireless adapter plugged into my dm800. i also connect my laptop to my phone hotspot

i suffer freezing/glitching on my dm800 and also disconnections from time to time on my laptop. would running the bat file on my laptop cure this or would i be better off buying a router

is this the router you talk about:

if it is, how would i go about using it with my phone. i.e. would i tether my phone to my laptop with the phone usb cable and then connect router to dm800hd with erthernet cable. or would i plug my phone into the router and create a connection on my phone and have a ethernet cable connected to dm800 and then connect laptop wirelessly tothe router

i tried with a router and t-mobile dongle and the latency was awfull and it just gitched all the time with constant disconnections although there are people using dongle and router combo,s successfully so ive read.. cant say if this file will help matters as i havent tried it,regards mdt

well i can safely say that this works for me. i've been running the bat file for 7 days now and in that time i've only had 4 disconnects from my laptop where previously i would get upto 10 on some days and although my dm800hd still glitches it's nowhere near as much and it's only for a split second making it much more watchable, whereas before it would freeze for upto 20-30 seconds. so glad i found this.

my setup is: android phone samsung galaxy 5(europa), i create a wifi hotspot on phone then connect my laptop and dm800hd to the hotspot

i didn't need to buy a 3g router as it works great using the phone's wifi hotspot
