Dreambox streaming to internet,it was never easy like this

I tried this excellent software yesterday, but have some questions. I got it to work both on LAN and also from internet.


1. I have 100/100 internet at home, how can i setup the software to get the best picture?

2. I thought i could take this software to any computer (not on the lan at home) at work for example and start streaming, but if i have understood correct, i must start the program on a computer at home and then click on restreaming and then i can open VLC on my computer at work. This mean that you got to have access to the home computer to get this to work? Otherwise how can you start restream if you dont have the program

3. How can you change channel from a internet based computer? Must you connect to the home computer? Or can you maybe connect to dreambox webinterface and change the channel in this gui

2. Youŗe right - just open vlc at work PC and open Network stream, where select HTTP and type xxxxxx.dyndns.org:1234 and hit play. xxxxxx should mean your registered host name on dyndns.org

1. Yes, i have seen this advanced, but my question was if someone has a good setup to use with high internet speed. Why invent the wheel once again.

I have now installed this at work, but i dont understand how it can reach my dreambox. If i press settings, the only thing i can change is DNS, port and streaming port. I can reach my dreambox webinterface from internet, i mean it is reachable on port 80

I feel i should also send my credentials to the drambox

we have two programs web streamer and web receiver
web receiver software designed to work in remote pc to control streamer which in turn control dreambox
The web receiver program interface is nearly similar to streamer except has green backgrounded colour
The functions of receiver are stop and start streaming in streamer,start recording channels in home pc,switching channes in dreambox
receiver also is cabable to receive stream in mms format only
to say that receiver program will control streamer remotely and control dreambox indirectly without using webinterface,there are few minor bugs in receiver porgam and as remote controller should be wait few seconds between sending commands otherwise will not work efficiently
receiver program connects with streamer program through port 5678,so this port should be opened and forwarded toward streamer pc ip like port 1234
You can install receiver program in same pc with streamer and you if it works then everything will be ok and you can install in remote pce

The program came with three preset values for choosing the best codec values better for streaming as well as advanced options for playing with different values,you can choose low or medium or high upload speed profile according to your internet speed and usually stream to mobile and stream to web tv boxes should be unchecked by default
In general for advanced option we should follow these rules
1-streamer streams usually in tow popular formats(access) http and mms(or mmsh both same),windows media player can receive in mms format vlc can receive both and for mms
for http format we can use
2- with http access we can choose and encapsulatation(ts,ps..) with any video codec and best is h264
3- with mms access or format the better choice is asf/wmv with video codec wmv2
regarding others like video scale better not to choose value above .5 and choose video bitrate according to your internet upload speed,you can choose video bitrate above 1000 for high internet upload speed( you have to test for that and see the quality for stream)
for stream audio is less sensetive for the audio values and chosen audio codec you can test may value tell you get good stream sound

for success of streaming port 1234 and assigning dns are neccessory and if these accomplished well then streaming is directforward
you can test for port is opened or not from setting by portchekcer tool and for dns assignement

to connect receiver with streamer port 5678 should be opened and forwarded to streamer pc ip(in streamer side pc ) like port 1234
you can open receiver in same pc with streamer and to test if it is working or not

stream port : 1234
dreamport : 80 (optional)

the web receiver will connect with my streamer program and will display my dreambox channels as well as you should receive radio channel(my upload speed is low so difficult to stream tv channel)

Hi, success here in Latvia (near Baltic Sea) I have 10mbit DL and 512kbit upload, but media player interrupts often and show a lot of " Buffering...." and "Reconnecting.." But can see some ornaments and radio voice

P.S. I would say that the picture is better than audio - this is more audio which disappears

to receive my stream you need not high download speed and 10 mb if more than enough to receive upload speed is not important

No i was connected with media player, but doesn't matter - here is everything working andt on Sunday i'm going to Brasil and Argentina and am very eager to know how it will work there. Hope that my home dreambox and Mac will not suffer from electricity or networking faults.

So excellent news at the end of the day - have updated the firmware of the router (Apple Air Extreme) and made a full reboot to it - and o, miracle, things back to normal - no one glitch or problem at all.
Thank you again for the excellent and elegant solution and wish me success in Brasil for testing it at 12000 km away from home with dreambox,
