Dish setup for Sats?

Hes not a big sports fan, so Im thinking is there really any need to have a motorised dish?
I''ll be getting sky uk via cardsharing for him.
Perhaps Im just confusing the issue and should just get basic setup fixed dish? Unless someone can give me good reason to go motorised?

I think you are confused and you are confusing the issue. Sky don't own sat and so they have no reason to come knocking on your door. I would go for 1m motorised as that leaves all your option free for the future. Once you get him sorted with cardsharing he will most likely have everything he requires.
