DM500s not connecting to dreamup

I am unableto get the DM500 to connect to dreamup (tried every version), I am able to get some connection with Putty and serial cable and its all gibberish though.
Does thuis mean I need to jtag, if so what cable is it from usb to ???

if i take the ground lead off it recognises dm500, wontn still let me flash... a bit puzzled
connected through hyperterminal without ground lead attached. its not gibberish any more. can someone let me know if i can flash dm500s through it without ground lead. or any resolution to fix ground problem...

I did get it to connect on jtag just the once, it confirmed the box and that was it.

the connection is different than thr 1 posted on here. i did get it to read the box but thats as far as i got. i managed to takr off soldering pad on board ��
abit tired will somehow try and repair it.... any suggestions peeps.
also is the diagram I've shared correct.
