It's a box that allows you to watch many paid for channels by your provider.

Simply replace buy a box and flash it and replace it with your existing sky or virgin box.

    Dream box 500c - cable
    Dream box 500s - sky

Here is a channel list that that you can view
    Code:
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/23857747/Channel-List
I wouldn't go buying a box right tho as sky and virgin are updating the encryption they are using to N3 and dreambox and every other box like it can't de-scramble the channels yet. They are testing it out in Leeds and no dreambox or any other box currently works there.

If you do wanna buy a box, get one of ebay, dont trust any of the sellers from china (or website with no phone number contact or address). Buying from ebay is safe from within the UK and dont go end up buying a fake!!

I bought a blackbox 500 c, its a 100% clone of the dreambox 500c that uses a high quality Phillips tuner .. you dont get any channels freezing on you at all its great.

      Hi,

right let me make this alot more clearer,

a Dreambox is a Linux satellite reciever which gives you the ability to watch Pay-Tv through sharing methods, Sky UK are not updating there encryption as they have already just done this, and it is still working fine through CS (Cardsharing)

There are many types of dreambox but currently the most popular are the DM500S and the DM800S, which are prices around ?65 and ?215 from uk with free shipping, the Dreambox is the way forward, i would not however buy a dreambox for cable as now Virgin are currently updating there encryption to N3 so this wont be viewable.

      hope this helps

still dont take this as gospil sky really dont like card sharing and have only last month employed tatics to stop cardsharing on sky italy leaveing blank screens for a couple of weeks(all sorted now) and personaly think they will not stop at italy other providers sutch as showtime say they are bringing a new box out that stops cardsharing so were its an alternative to your cable boxes it wont last for ever and it a lot more involed than just puting your box to a coax scanning on of you go.
before any one buys a sat set up i would advise them to look on the forums that allow cardsharing and read how the help section to see what they are letting them selves in for.
one of the best discrition between cable and sat was
"cable is an alternative to sky sat is a hobbie"

Superman i am just trying to make a piont that there seems to be a lot of people all panicing about there cable boxs going down and they seem willing to go down the cardsharing root. Were do all these people think the shares are going to come from father xmas. The shares for sky are hard to come by as some one you pay full suscription to sky are just going to say here share of my card i ll pay ?60 a month and you can have it free. Its not going to happen. Then what happens if they do get a share from joe blogs and there wife is sat there whating americas top model final when joe blogs decided to swicht is rooter off or gose on holiday and no tv for 2 weeks.
i personaly can see ebay full of second hand dm500s in couple of months

Hi FireStorm, i agree the point you are making is a valid point, but people can always go down the Paid Sharing Route, and pay a fraction of the cost for Sky through CS and get a good service, its a easy option this way, obviously you have to be careful with the server and make sure you choose one with a good repution, main point is its a hobby, Cable was easy, Satellite isnt, but satellites a lot more fun

hi Superman have you ever tried to watch sky on a piad server????????
i have tested many a cline from piad server for a site i mod on and have never found a pay server that has watchable sky by which i mean dose not have constant freezeing which is cuased by the large demaned on the sky card due to greedy pay servers taking to many clients. And most off they pay server do not own the card they are sharing off.Just steal it off some poor guy who thinks he is getting a fair swap. Then if the the card server gets caught he has your ip address, paypall details on his pc ect ect which could end up with a knock on your door from the old bill
i am not trying to be negative about this but just want people to know all the facts before thiy spend all there hard earned money

                      Hi FiresTrom,
I have a line of 90% of all payservers out there since i run one of the biggest Cs forums around, and trust me there are some decent ones, i dont see hardly any freeze on my Dreams, i have about 7 in total and they all run perfectly on all satellites, you just need to go for the smaller guys not the huge ones. Trust me Also i would say 98% of Payservers have there own local card also, so dont have these problems, maybe you didnt look in the right places, and also if your a mod them pasyservers shouln't be allowed if they have constant freeze.

I am a regular visitor to the forum administred by SuperSatShop and bought DM500S yesterday, His forum is good and he always chases those payservers for verification and to ensure the picture quality is good. I am thiniking of trying them next week or so, I am really curious to the experience having read and googled so much about it ( dozens of hours !)

Having said that I would agree that all points raised by FiresTrom are valid and should be taking into consideration if one wants to go to this route.

Yes everything you say is true Adam the points made do need to be considered, but then again couldnt the same be said by cable, it could have just went off one day?

The site i mod on dose not allow payserver of any kind(they are genraly fround apon by the sat comunty and look on as scum that makes money of our cards)I only test them for people who have less knowledge than our selves and have found them disapionting to say the least.I have nothing financial to gain from what i am saying here.i just dont want people to buy sat gear that is not suible for them. But to get the best adivce and there for enjoying a great hobby.
if you look at some post on here such as"dad jailed" you will see the dangers of cardsharing via piaded servers.
I still find it hard to belive that they own the card they claim to share as the cost for all those packages would come to thousands of pounds/euros.And to recoupe theat cost they would have to sell a large amount of shares that would lead to a lot of freezing

                              Hi Firestorm,

If you do the math you can clearly see the profit invoied in this and thats why they give a good service, for example

Say a server has 3 Local Cards
                              Sky UK
                              Sky Italia
                              Canal +

Each Card Is maybe ?1,000 a year, so that's 3000 a year card cost..

Now lets say the server Charges 150GBP a Year,

with 30 Users they can make a ?1,000

An thats only rough guesses, most servers offer 3 Months at a higher rate, 1 month again high rate, so you must think of it this way, they make a lot of money. Trust me, these guys can end up making Easily 500-600 a month. i know loads of them.
