if the dish on the wall is a sky dish. and you dont want to bother with sharing, you wont be getting anything new. for 'more tellie' you gonna need another dish or motorised one and look at either sharing or getting to grips with entering codes.

OK guys I've been looking around and I'm a bit confused what I need to do next.

I've just imaged my dreambox-500s and it's hooked up to a std Sky dish. I'm receiving just a few channels BBC, ITV etc...
I wasn't expecting pay channels but is this all I should be recieving? no extra free channels

or if I understand rightly I would still need some kind of card to receive all the FTA channels? if so I may as well just plug the tv aireal back in and get freeview.

So what do I need to do next - If i buy a new dish, which one?
Will this definately work with my Dream500s and what can I expect to recieve and what do I point it at.

If pointing at foreign sats is this more of a now and again thing to pick up footy or the odd movie and use freeview for the rest of the time. Or is there some milliage in using the box as the main box for all channels.

        thanx in advance

              Hi all,

Thank you to the opening poster for the information. However, it leaves a lot of questions unanswered for those coming over from cable to sat.

Coming from Eurovox, my main questions are... what channels can we receive using a sat box in comparison to what we used to get on VM? More? Less?

Which box is the best to get a similar service to what we had on Eurovox? Are they all the same or can you only get certain channels with certain boxes?

              Many thanks,

              Regards,
              IceUK

                  Hi,
I use kryptview a750 with cable and internet connection.
I am after a satellite reciever that allows me to use the same connection as the cable recievers. I currently have a sky dish and sky in my house installed, and am after a box in HD.

Im just after the basics on which box to use and how, the rest i can figure out as I know all about cable boxes, please help
