From tuxcommander, passwd shows the hex for the passowrd entered. Anybody knows how to convert the hex into a legible "password"

Reset root Password

For all those who cannot install tuxbox commander plugin and need to reset the root password, below what I did to do this:
1) create a share folder in your PC and mount using your remote to /media/var
2) change the location of the local /var to the newly mounted folder
3) thats it the box will reboot and all the /var folder will be copied to your PC.
4) Now you can browse to the /var/etc folder and edit the passwd file.

Can somebody tell me how to decrypt a dreambox password?
I have the password from the Tuxcom but i want the real!!
Does anybody knows a way to do it?

Hi all,

I installed Commando yesterday via a null modem cable and it was super easy! Although there was another file called 'lipcrypto' that I am not sure what to do with.

Anyway, the installation looks really good but for some reason I am now unable to access the Dreambox via Enigma TV on my PC. I have checked the ip address and password but still get no joy.

What is really odd is that I can however access the deambox in Firefox (without a password as well - user name only)

I have therefore want to make sure that I can input the correct password and have pasted the contents of the above file below:

root::0:0::/:/bin/sh
sshd:*:65532:65534::/:/bin/false
ftp:*:65533:65534::/:/bin/false
nobody:*:65534:65534::/:/bin/false


Can someone please check and let me know what the password should read?
