DM 500 & DM800 in the same house...

    Hey guys...

I have a DM800 already working with a Sky Sat, but I want to get a DM500 as well for another room(will have it's seperate c-line as well...) Is it possible to do this?

I have two sky satellites, so the dm500 will be completely independent...

    thanks..

Yes it is possible, but you will need another line.

I would have thought that what he needs are two dyndns host addresses and a router which direct the traffic to the approriate box.

Hmm as each box will have it's own IP address wouldn't it be ok?

Thinking about it, you might get away with the same C line on each box assuming they are both behind the same router. I say this because a dual tuner linux box share's the same line and your able to watch a channel whilst recording another. Try it, at the end of the day the worst what can happen is that who ever your getting your share from will ask you to get another. Put the same line on each box, switch them to the same premium channel and see if all clears ok.

Give it a try, like I said, worst case you might need to get another c line. If one of the boxes stutters you know it wont work.

The C line will have the host address of the server. Which ever box that c line is in will find the server.

Personally I think gam3r might get away with it if both boxes are behind the same router / IP.

Hello mate, I have been reading about resharing the cline from the main box (DM800) with the DM500 - is this possible?

It depends if its from a payserver or not, as payservers won't allow reshare..

try adding a f line on the dm800 and then add cline to to dm500
                      EG. F: dm500 bedroom
                      EG C: ip of dm800 12000 dm500 bedroom no
that should work if you can reshare hope that helps

use the same c line on both boxes as long as they are on the same router. you wont have reshare rights unless told

shouldnt discuss this any further on this forum

If you add the same line to two boxes it will mess it up and the server will know

Best way is to add f:line like said above

                            DM500 BEDROOM

                            Then add c:line
                            127.0.0.1 port DM500 BEDROOM

                            127.0.0.1 is just local host.
