i have a 500gig external 2.5 hdd and i was wondering if i could use this instead of an internal 1 ???
if so do i need to set it up or just plug it in ??

If you just want to use it to save data on, music movies etc.Format it and just plug it in and save your files to it.

I had loads of issues with my external USB 3.5" 500gb hdd.
In the end i ended up taking the hdd out of the case,removing the pcb that came with it,plugging the sata cable that came with the DM on to the hdd and powering the hdd(yellow wire) using the 12v supply from the internal fan then putting the hdd back in the case!
Now recording,goes in to standby etcComment

even though they say its usb 2.0 on the box. im not sure it is. its a common issue not getting externals to work.Wavefield Ds 55cm at 13E 19E and 28E receiving everything out there on 2 dm800hd
previous life dm800hd and 500c on cable
