I had the same issue, I ended up with a VU in the end. Its stable. However its not great at controlling my motor and its very big. Other than that the PQ seems similar to the DM800HD so its ok. I would recommend the box.

I cant comment on the 500HD but i was really tempted. Its not a bad little box spec wise.

As Father Ted said above just unzip the files to a fat 32 formatted USB in the correct directory, switch off the vu from the mains, plug the usb in the front and switch the VU on, 2 mins later and its done. It will tell u to remove the usb and reboot.

You can also do it via a null cable and probably ftp, all the interfaces are the same as DM's

Does it glitch like the dm800 clones do on discovery hd and sky sports 1 hd etc?

Really tempted to buy this box and keep it for many many years

I had the same feeling, its the most expensive box I ever bought too.

As for the quality I cant really say, Its not flimsy and the components inside look to be of a high quality. Its Korean made, not Chinese so its a bit better. The remote also looks like it could take a bashing. It has a sturdy casing and is large like a tank so it wont overheat.

Its impossible to tell how reliable it is because its so new, If they will fail they will fail after a year or two. Its just too early to tell.

True I suppose but I still have a sky sub,

Anyway if it fails im sure a fix would come out cos its so popular. I just hope it will be popular for the next few years anyway so support doesnt die.

Anyway goodluck with your decision and hopefully your new toy!

It has to be the V + duo beats the dreambox 500 HD duo beats the dreambox 500 HD hands Down as its more like the 800 - 8000 HD with the twin tuner.

If comparing the soon to be released V + solo & dreambox 500 HD, i would go for the Dreambox simply because of the history of support for images & applications.

The V + duo is not realy in the same class as dreambox 500 HD and are not a like for like comparison the Solo will be more simular to the 500 HD..

                              V + duo & solo will / are a very good receiver
