    dreambox streaming on xbmc

Is now available for xbox with the latest T3CH build:

    T3CH

This will allow dreambox streaming right from the native XBMC code!

Create a file named Dreambox.strm with contents like this (use the IP of your dreambox)

      Place the file into
      /E/apps/XBMC/UserData/playlists/video/
Then add the playlist file onto the dreambox menu in the usual way.

An advantage of using the stream is that the xbox play menu give you the option of adjusting the size of the image to suit your TV, some programs will play with black bars at the top/bottom and left/right these can be easuily removed when playing through xbox.

I use PLi Jade and the streaming is faultless.

I found the instructions on one of the xbox forums.

Greetings, I too had forgotten how to do this but I've switched on my xbox and figured how to do it now ...

To add the video playlist into the Video menu you select 'Add Source' from the root video menu and then browse for the item 'Video Playlists' then select OK. The playlist then appears as a menu item. Inside the playlist will be the dreambox.strm item you created earlier.

Another way to view the dreambox stream with the xbox is to use the web interface to select the program, to do this you need to add a Tuxbox client item into the root menu. This time add a new item and browse to the item 'Add Network Item'. In this menu choose protocol 'TuxBox Client' and enter the IP of your dreambox into the ''Server Address' field. The port can remain at 80, I do not have authentication enabled so I do not add anything into the username and password fields.

A new item like this will appear on the menu: tuxbox://192.168.2.109:80/ when it is opened it will show a list of your favorites, selecting one will open the station and start playing it. Unfortunately when I use this method on my system the playback is liable to dropouts and sometimes playback is abandoned and the video menu reappears, I don't know why.

          hth David.

i get the same result using tuxbox as you, it loads up the channel lists fine but after the loaing the streams they quickly become unstable (maybe a couple of mins at best) and crash back into the channels menu.

using your method with the .strm playlist i cannot get the stream to load using the basic url http://192.168.2.103:31339/ (in my case) it does not stream the current channel nor a list of channels but....

when i use my web browser on the dreambox ip http://192.168.2.103 it brings up a web menu and lets me choose my channels, i can then download a .m3u file which VLC player loads and streams whatever channel i picked - XBMC can also play this stream and it seems stable from what i can tell.

the file just has an extention to the basic URL - in the case of BBC news it is http://192.168.2.103:31339/0,113f,0280,0281 BUT... that extention does not correspond with the data in my backed up bouquets which suggests BBC news is: SERVICE: 1:0:1:ae:71:f020:0:0:0:0: - presumably the extensions are temporary which sadly blows my plan of making a favourites list

don't suppose someone more technically minded can provide a workaround?

            (i'm using a DM500c with DK1.1 image)

would be nice if a script was made for XBMC since all the needed info is available from the web gui files heh

                Did you get this working?

I've set up my sons xbox to point to 192.168.0.20:31344 which streams perfectly. But I want to make it so he can view the Disney, Disney +1, Disney XD and Disney XD+1 only. Does anyone have the direct links to those channels so that I can set up as separate strm files which will change channel for him?

Many XBOX builds have a broken tuxbox client. The last I knew was working was 30/12/08 (16762).

Anybody have a more recent build working for XBOX?

sorry for bringing back the outdated topic but, does anybody knows a release of xbmc newer date with good tuxbox client. i got the 30800 and it's unwatchable at all. but when i try stream to my computer it's ok so i got a conclusion that it's dreambox ok and xbmc on my xbox it's not ok.
