German judge suspended Dream Multimedia's DM100

DreamMultimedia In the dog house again !

The Duesseldorf court has temporarily banned the company Dream Multimedia to sell one of its decoders. The device is according to the court for infringement of patents Kudelski, that encryption techniques for digital television offers.

The Swiss Kudelski Group, the company behind the security technologies for digital TV Nagravision and Mediaguard, complained to the maker of the Dreambox-decoders in December because of the Dreambox DM100 software on the patents of the company would be violated. The judge agrees and the German company has temporarily prohibited the Dream Multimedia DreamBox DM100-selling decoders, reports Digital Fernsehen.

The ban applies only to the smallest model DM100, only the decoder, the court said that there is infringement of patents. The firmware of the device may not conscious offered for download. The DM100 Firmware Dreambox has been removed from the site.

Update 14:28: This article was previously argued that the ability to install add-ons that encryptions, the reason for the ban on sale, and stated that the DM100 is a Linux based decoder. This is not true. Unlike the other recipients of Dream Multimedia DM100 is no Linux-decoder. Moreover, according to court the firmware of the device itself Kudelski infringement of patents, instead of add-ons.

You have to wonder what Kudelski are scared of tbh. Is it that DM, or a group that has access to DM100's, has done (or even close to doing) something that will open N3? Seems a very odd move to make...

Well to be honest is got very little to do with this actual receiver ! its more to do with Dream themselves !

Most members on here have the Linux based receivers such as the Dreambox 500, 500 HD, 800 HD, 8000 HD, the 100 is a lesser machine without Linux and is not a big seller.

But over all its a worry that encryption companys are hitting back at certain machines that might be getting too close for comfort or a threat on the security of any certain encryptions been used.

you are the lucky one. You dont have the DM 100. But lot have DM 100 here in Toronto Area including me. And the numbers are increasing day by day. Because thats the only model available in the market. I have not seen any other model in this area. or advertised.

And I myself having problem with this receiver. I can not say how many others having some issues with this DM 100.
