probs conecting dreambox though router

i need help coz i cant connect my dreambox though my router i wanna telnet flash it. ok i found my router isp is 192.168.1.1

i using windows 7 im unsure of how to change my laptops ip adress?

what do i need to change in the communication setup in the dreambox? hope some1 can help me

if your laptop ip is say 192.168.1.100
make the dreambox ip say 192.168.1.101
subnet usally 255.255.255.0
gateway your router ip

connect the box to your router using an ethernet cable then press menu button on your remote ,press number 6 (setup),choose expert setup, then choose communication setup, dhcp should be enabled (when its enabled it should have a green tick if its disabled it will have a red x) if its not enabled enable it and also check enable network has a green tick, press the green button to save and exit . now go back in to communication setup and check nameserver and gateway (if all is well they will both display your routers ip address which you say is 192.168.1.1 ,the router should also then have assigned the dreambox an ip address . you should be able to connect to your box now.

yeah thanks for the help iv manage to get connected to the dreambox though the router. but now when i telnet the box i cant log in. it asks for user name i put root then password but wont let me type anything does any1 have any idea about this?

just to update i can conect to my dreambox though filezila and also ping it ok. just when im go to telnet it i cant get past the login bit. been trying for the last 2 days hope somebody knows what wrong?

If you've been trying for two days, wouldn't you be better just flashing it with Dreamup m8.

yeah but iv no conection on my laptop. wont i need this to add more stuff to the box in the furture?
its ok to telnet though the router?
should i try with dcc or some other prog?

Ok i haven't played around with my 500 for a while but IIRC if you can connect to the box via your router, use flash fxp or the like and connect wirelessly to your dreambox and ftp your image to the tmp folder and flash using the remote.
