Dream box and motorised dish

Hi,
All I?m taking the plunge and after a decent amount of background reading, I?ve decided to get a motorised satellite and suitable receiver. (vermin look to have won on the cable front) and hopefully attempt to install the system over the bank holiday weekend

I was thinking of an 80cm dish and a dreambox 500 ( all recommendations on materials and where to purchase would be appreciated)

Whilst I would acknowledge I?m a complete novice, I?ve done a bit of research and will spend all this weekend doing more, and hopefully with the help of your good selves I can be pushed in the right direction as where to obtain the best information on all aspects of the installation From start to finish to enable me to be sucessful

I completely understand what I?m attempting is probably not best carried out by a novice but I hope that I will be successful with the guidance of my more experienced forum members ( your time to shine) and worst case I can get a professional to come around and compete the installation with my tail tucked firmly between my legs.

Dreambox & motorised Dish

You have lots to learn first about setting up a Dreambox and also setting up a motorised system. If you are south of Manchester then an 80cm dish is OK but if you are further north then a 90cm dish or Triax88 is a better choice. As for as dish/kit suppliers are concerned you could try Wizardsatellite or SatelliteSuperstore.
If you buy a copy of What Satellite & Digital TV magazine, you will find lots of satellite equipment suppliers, Satellite receiver details and a list of all the HD & SD satellite transponders. There are lots of tutorials on this forum referring to setting up both the Dreambox & a motorised satellite system from scratch. I have uploaded a tutorial on setting up a motorised dish in the downloads section of DK. In general, you will get lots of help from all the guys on DK, So best of luck!
