What do you mean by 'different area'. From outside your network via web?

yes outside network. to access family dreambox 10 miles away

You need there external ip address and they need to give you acess to there box through there router i have belkin router and to allow some one to edit my dreambox for eg i log in to my router and put my dreambox ip into DMZ SETTING TAB but make sure you remove the ip after what ever you have done to your box you are in danger of getting hacked if you do not remove it
