    Wireless wall plugs

    Hi,

I need to connect Dreambox (in front room)into wireless router in hall, dont want to have to connect long lan cable, heard that you can get a wireless plug for doing this ,that you just stick your dreambox into, anybody know what they are called?

Do you mean a wireless bridge, or 'Homeplugs' but they're not wireless, they use the mains wiring in your house.

If you use homeplug don't forget to use encryption on them, otherwise your neighbours can plug one in and use your network :-)

Matters not, read the documentation that comes with them.

It's not the ruing main thats the problem it is the phase. Most adjacent houses use a different phase. This will add 10dB attenuation to your signal and that is all so, depending on the power you are putting into the thing you could receive it up to 1km away on the cable.
