re setting up router

i have my dm connected to my router and the router to my cable modem for internet. i have set my dnds addresss and now i want to check if my dm can be ping from work but when i try if it fails. do i need to do any setup in the router configuration for it to work. trying to get the card share thingy to work. i have a few peeps who want to share but confuse on the port issue.

I have a netgear router and by default it does not respond to pings form outside. Most router have an option to manage them remotely check if yours can do that so that you can then fiddle with your configuration from work. Have you tried entering your dns host url into your browser ?

hi if its any help i configured my router as in thread how to stream dreambox i had to go into application & gaming to set port forwarding etc and works atreat also might be worth looking at thered card share thead c & f lines how to in there good luck
