Preparing for connection, now switch on dreambox???

I have a usb to serial port adapter.

i installed the driver and the port is assigned to COM6

whenever i put in the usb it makes the sound to recognise it so i know its working ok

but when i use dreamup, i select COM6 from the drop down, then click connect but it wont connect.

any ideas what is the problem?

sounds like its working right, try one of the other com ports, start at 1 then work you way up 1 at a time till one works

follow this EXACTLY..... line by line, don't jump ahead or miss any parts out or leave anything plugged in you shouldn't..

Get back if it still proves to be a problem

when i have my box disconnected from the power socket at the start, after clicking connect on dreamup, do i put the power socket in and flick the switch on the back of the box or do i leave the switch off?

Do whatever you need to 'turn the box on' as in the guide.. ie to get power to it..

No good plugging it in if you have the clone with the switch.. Plugged in or not, it's the switch that provides the power

The original boxes, for what this guide was made for, didn't have a switch on the back.. This was an afterthought by the chinese
