i could understand that to a point,
but when i get ssn ( not hd) one day then nothing the next day, then it comes back, and so on.
      the dish hasnt moved.
Have tried with/without the in-line amp, it doesnt make a diffrence? put a new lnb, have checked connections, etc
the only thing i am going to try on a mates system.
      doing my head in,

      thanks

ive lost a load of frequencies, just done a scan on 28e, i am down to 211 services, when i know it should be around 900+, just keep getting tune failed.

have got the channels on the 211, picture is fine, even though my snr is down and my ber is up.

is this down to my tuner failing?

        regards

only best way to test is stick a meter on the dish..! or plug a sky box in and see weather you get channels you dont on the 800

Had a similar problem so sent it to Thor west 1 and stuck it on BBC World News and looked at the snr that was about 50.

I got my ladders out and spanners, marked up with felt tip and maually moved it till the snr went up quite a bit.

Didnt use a meter but had a cheap relay system called my 2 daughters shouting out the signal .

When it improved i tightened up but be careful you only need to move it a nats cock. The felt tip marking was a god send.

Improved it greatly and tweaking the Lnb also helped.

Definitely sounds like your on the wrong arc to me.

            Andy.

andy 91, yeah it was my dish out off alignment, i didnt even think that the pole would move.
i doesnt take a lot, to throw it all out.
back up to a high snr, and zero ber.
even espn hd is great now.
managed to drag over a 1000 services on 28e, never managed that before.

              thanks

Nice one your not on your own mine was the same. Its easy to think that it cant have moved off the arc but your talking millimetres to throw it.

How did you sort it,up the ladder with a meter or manually with help??
I marked up with perm marker to make sure i could go back if it wasnt right,

im lucky really, cos its at the bottom of the garden,
                  so no climbing ladders.
Got help off a member on here, oily. ( big thanks)
he used a meter, looked only a cheap one, but it did the trick, but its like u said, it doesnt take that much.

                  have a gud un,

Can I also be cheeky and ask which sat meter you used? There's a konig branded meter on Amazon and ebay going for around 7 quid. It has rave reviews on Amazon, will this do the job?

                        [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Satfinder-Meter-including-Cable/dp/B001HK8IHY/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t"]Konig Satfinder Meter including 1.5m Cable: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics[/ame]

The reason I ask is I've been following damiensk's posts with interest as I've been experiencing similar issues. We had gale force winds here in Manchester about 6 weeks ago and the dish went went for a wander.

Dragged it back to get a decent enough picture but dish needs tweaking. Get SNR on SSports around 45% and the picture is still red hot, but other channels play up.

Couple of questions? Did you tweak the dish for 28.2e or did you start from 0.8w and the others fell into place.

For me I can get around 95% SNR for BBC World News on 0.8w but levels fall off moving to 28.2e.

Do I move the dish both in the vertical and horizontal planes for a best signal?

Any tips for tweaking would be appreciated.

                        Cheers,

                        T.

Just like mine,it's cheap and cheerful but it gets the job done.Make sure your pole(oh er missis!) is 100% vertical in all planes then start at 1w,all the rest should fall into place. The dish will need tweaking so it's best to have someone near the tv whilst doing this or have a portable/sat receiver near to you so you can see what your doing.

Take a look here at a similar thread it may help:

I tried the inline amp, set up as described in the thread you linked, and things have gone from bad to worse. Now ESPN HD is totally absent, 0 SNR insteaf of 40% without amp. I don't know what to do...

oily, i aint knocking it pal, spot on.

as oily says you have to make sure, that your mount is 100% spot on.

go from 0.8w, and everything else falls in to place.
Oily put my in line amp about a meter away from my reciever, and it made a big diffrence.

my snr on hd espn is around the low 80%, no glitching. (28e)
some channels on hd are in the 90%+ now, and ive got a rev j m/board.

                              big thanks again to oily.
