Cheapest broadband dongle and what alternatives without a phone line

Hi guys,ive a friend who has just moved into a house and has no phoneline, and Virgin want too much just for straight up broadband.

Unless i can find him a cheaper provider the other option is a dongle.

Can someone tell me if they work ok with a Dreambox and whats the best dongle to get?

Another question is what router would he need?

If anyone has any advice or ideas on the cheapest way round this without signing up for a phone line can they help thanks.

ps,02 doing a deal for existing customers just broadband at ?8.17p at 1.3 meg,is that enough to run a Dreambox??

this is the one my dad installed at his freinds, working well on dreambox, using about a gig a month.

Any idea how much is package is im after cheap as asap as my mate aint even got a lappy just need the internet for the Dreambox soley.

no, not just 3, my dads mate uses o2, he has no pc as well, just choose a cheap one giving over 1 gig a month
for ?45 not bad, probably cost best part of that for virgin to do an install.
