    Changing lnb on dish

Dreambox hasnt worked in over a week in my house, I brought it to a friends house and connected it and it works, so I am thinking the lnb needs replacing, does this sound right?do lnb's break often like this?My dish is up on the roof and is hard to get at so I want to try and make sure that I nearly am sure that the lnb is what is wrong.

Just another thing, I have a dual connection lnd, one of the cables runs to the front room and one to the bedroom, the one in the front room dosent work either. The one in the bedroom worked but not now. That would make me think that it is the lnb that needs replacing? As it would prob be a bit coincedental that both cables are gone.

without seeing your setup its hard but have u checked the motor? is the dish actually moving? is there any breaks in the cable? im just suggesting a few things as lnbs dont often go wrong. when u say hasnt worked for over a week do u mean no channels on any satelitte?

Dont have a motor, dish is one of them old sky ones, I had it working in the bedroom, through Dreambox and then last Monday switched it on and nothing, says No service available, Dreambox cant get a lock on any satellites. I tried to plug it in downstairs a few weeks back and it said the same thing, so the only connection that was working was the one in my bedroom now thats gone also.

I am in the house about 3 years, it was up before I moved in , it looks as if its an old dish, it currently has a dual lnb, my dad has a quad lnb that he got from a dish a while back so I am going to try that.

Can I just coonect the lnb into the dreambox to see if it works before I put it up?

no mate it wont work if u dont plug it onto dish as no signal, because its sly im guessing it might be the lnb now would be very rare if the dish was faulty as v little to go wrong only thing if not lnb is that dish may have moved ?

No dont think dish has moved, what makes me think its the lnb and not cabling is that it was working upstairs and not down, would an lnb break like this i.e one port in dual lnb wouldnt work but one would?

Your dreambox500S was saying service unavailable and you reflashed and it worked?

I brought my box to a friends house and it worked so that means box is ok, its something else.

Sound thanks, if the dish noves even a little bit would the no service available message come on?Can you realign the dish by hand i.e do you not need any tools?

If the dish moves a nats cock you will lose all service.buy one of them cheap meters first and give that a go or tweak the end of the lnb if you can, might be a touch out.
