Gemini Project No longer support Softcams

The Gemini Project Images have removed the Softcam option including download via image.

This is official statement off the Gemini Forum.

Hello User,

the IhaD is setting the direction for a save future.

After a long check of the legal conditions according the digital copyright, we decided that there will be no support for any softcam no more. This also includes the homesharing area.

We tolerated this situation for a long time with lots of concern and have been discussing this procedure internally for about a year.

The past showed that many people are not regarding our board rules and are seeking for internet sharing support. This situation has to end right now.

Our servers are based in Germany - which we don't want to change -, therefore we are lying under german jurisdiction.

In our opinion there are many more interesting areas surrounding the Dreambox than this. Many people are developing in good diversity here at the IhaD which prooves that fact.

We don't want to endanger the service of the IhaD and decided to act like that.

The areas involved to this decision will be deleted beginning from now on. Furthermore, there will be no automatic download of cams via BluePanel.

We are sure that you still will have fun and support at the IhaD and are going to support our decision.

Yeah, i have just noticed that on my box! What a joke.

So basicaly dreambox + Gemini = FTA box

quite a few teams have decided to do the same thing. personally i think it a good idea.
after all it only takes the end user seconds to manually install the files.

Gemini (and others) have for many years developed with the info they got from plain users, that dosen't know much about telnet'ing or manual editing etc.... and now they have decided to piss on them....

Stupid, I say... Hope people just will stop using their images and support other image developers that cares about their users....

bull I say..... the illegal part is in people's abuse of the emus..... And that they can do anyways.. the simple home user isn't the abusing dude,,,, the guys that knows all about installing and that kind of stuff, they're the potential abusers...
they got the knowhow to CS and what ever they do....

By removing their cams from download servers, only stop legal users, not a single abuser will be stopped by that,,,

dont know if this is wright area but had gemini image in my box everything was working ok but i put hdd onto box but would not work hdd so someone told me to try new image thats what i have done but did not work and i had no cccam so put my gemini 5.0 image on now it is the same no cccam image i have dreambox 800hd clone is there a image somewhere with a cam on it to get my box working again hope someone can help thank you

If you download the CCcam as .tar file, FTP it complete (do not unzip or unrar it) into /tmp and do a manual install from the Blue Panel.

how come u add v2.0.8 to the possibilities and single it out ?

all newer versions are better.... I wouldn't never use a version below 2.0.11 alot of bugfixes in the newer versions...
Have not tested the newest 2.2.0/2.2.1 so can't talk for those, but a fact is the 2.1.3 & 2.1.4 is the most used and by far the best I Know of....

how come u add v2.0.8 to the possibilities and single it out ?

all newer versions are better.... I wouldn't never use a version below 2.0.11 alot of bugfixes in the newer versions...

I didn't single that one out, I posted that first then edited my post to show the newer cccam versions, also if you scroll down the second link you will find cccam 2.1.3 for Gemini Project x3.

Found this thread trying to manually install cccam at Gemini3. Do I have to copy all above files to DB and do manual install?
I would appreciate if somebody mentioned where the files go (in DB directory) and which option of G3 do I have to use to install?
