may well be 9 pin, but is it null modem? only one way to find out mate, but for the price of a bag of chips you can get a proper null modem cable and be sure it works

Are you sure it's not a 15 pin low density ethernet media convertor? Been a while since I've seen one, but I've never seen or heard of ethernet to rs232.

I think he means 9 pin to USB adapter as opposed to ethernet.

BTW Gas there was an old interposer that used to be DB9 to RJ45 but I would never call it an ethernet connection and that was around the time of coax BNC networks

Hi Satsmo, yes I just counted the pins and it was 15 pin low density, I have such devices left around - I never could throw anything away

The use of legacy equipment is never a good guide of a person's age.

Sometimes older kit just fits the job, plus an old coont would never admit anything

P.S. Sorry for the highjack Donkey

The link is to software that allows a virtual serial connection, the pic is just for illustration. I think you have an old D9 to RJ11 lead and I seen them used a long time ago, as a means to allow you Telnet access to POS systems.

The only way as said is to use a null modem cable for dreamup as per the lads replies above.
