wifi connection problem

have a VAP11g wifi bridge set up on my spiderbox at home and works perfectly with my linkys router,i tried to instal same in another location using a Thompson Tg585V8 router from another provider ,blue connection light comes on but i cant get an Ip connection with the router when setting it up on computer,i changed all the network settings i could think of but no joy,help appreciated
