    Dreambox purchase advise

    Hi Folks

I'm new to dreambox so have a question ....

I want to via my sat ...

    1. Be able to record a show on one channel but watch another show on a different channel at the same time
    2. have an EPG
    3. Use the EPG to set the pvr to record a show while I am away

    Cheers

    Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

you can pick a clone 8000 with lcd display for around ?370 plus delivery. (if you can find one).
          the lcd display is terrible.

all new 8000 clones now come with white oled displays and the new BCM 4506 tuners.
also many are being seized by customs around europe at the moment as dm is trying to protect sales of its "flagship model".
those dealers who take the chance want a bit more payback.
?480 would be a good price now.
          keymaster may know more.
          regards.

              Thanks

Thanks Folks ... man they are expensive ... lets say I have and old sat box and I by the DM8000 can I take the tuner out of the old sat box. In fact the old sat box is from Showtime ME and has two tuners in it.

Also, could I replace the software that in on the old tuner with something that will work?

              Cheers

not sure what you're trying to achieve.
why would you want to take the tuners out of the sat box into the dm8000, as it has two tuners already and room for two more. (though not sat tuners).
are you sure this old sat box has twin tuners anyway, and not lnb in/lnb out.
give more info and i'll try and help.

Opps my bad ... I was jumping ahead of myself. I was thinking if i have a sat box that has no dvr and no second tuner can I take one from another box and put it in.

The question now is I am not sure what my old sat box is (new at this). I have three LNB ports that are labelled 'quad LNB 600 mA max'.

I use to be able to record a show while watching another and it was a dvr in conjunction with the EPG. So I was making the assumption that I could cannibalise the old sat box and use the parts in a new one.

The old sat box is a UEC made in SA. It has 2 tv ports, 2 usb ports etc ....

Do you think it possible to change the software?

No, you can only use tuners in teh DM8000 that are made for the DM8000
