l have three and the kids have never said a word . they just turn over and back again , it's not the end of the world . we Are talking about a box that's been dragged into live again , commando is a great image . there isn't anything close . not everything is black and white , black and Gray is fine on a 35 pound box

and SAVE settings on the way back out, then restart neutrino or reboot. You prrobably have the first line as the (idiotic) ro - meaning Read-Only, rather than rw (Read and Write)

Oops- that was meant to have read "(idiotic neutrino default) ro - meaning Read-Only, rather than rw (Read and Write)"

I hope the original string was not taken as me inferring YOU were the idiot, LOL! My apologies if this was the case.

        Cheers- AL

Pahphos Al- I bow down to your exquisite work!!!!

What an image!! I have had Jade Pli on my OM500 and DM500 for a long time, but I needed a reflash and had heard about Commando - flashed it over Jade and it worked a treat.... Love the 7 day EPG.

I'm running 14.7 with the latest online update. I'm not saying the problem of os*** crashing is linked to the latest online update BUT the problem has not happened prior to doing to the update. It might be a coincidence...it might not.

Still looking for some advice re the script.

I know this will restart the process:

                    os*** -r

I know this will check if the process is running:

                    ps -ef | grep os***

But its the scripting and scheduling I am struggling with.

Been using the Commando image for the past year or so and have to say it is fab but have a question about the yWeb interface.
Using the Live - TV option in yWeb I can stream the FTA channels on my computer fine but it doesn't seem to work with any of the non FTA.
Is this normal or is there some settings in yWeb that I need to change to get these to work?

My tests indicate that the os*** crash is due to GetEPG or Autobouquets

so it seems like either of these processes in the latest update makes the box run out of memory

Extensive testing during ongoing dev has shown that loading GetEPG (or RT-EPG) or running AutoBouquets have no effect on installed softcams.

The one process that DOES is when GetEPG automapping is run and it finds a new or renamed channel that is not in the rdmap.dat user mapfile. Up to and including the last 19.07.13 online update, dvbsnoop was deployed to grab the EPG-ID from the stream, creating a 5.7mb datasource file in /tmp in the process.

Under these circumstances, we were killing the softcam before running dvbsnoop, then restarting it again afterwards. Otherwise, something would have to have given way, cam crash probably...

However, for the next (and imminent) online update, LraiZer has come up with a far more sophistcated and faster automapping engine, which shrinks the /tmp datafile to only 1.27mb with no need to zap to the unmapped channel then back again! This worked absolutely brilliantly during testing here, especially as we'll no longer need to kill the softcam in this scenario. It'll be viewing as normal, with the odd progress popup here and there of course.

                                Cheers- AL
