It's all great but I have a couple of questions. Not sure if those have been answered here before, being a Nuwbie have to ask.
What software do you use to connect to the box. Although my DM500S appears to be online, according to the Network settings, I am having difficulties connecting using DCC 2.9.6 On start it shows: "Error 10057 in function Sent Socket is not connected". Not sure if it is the right tool at all. Previously I have also tried FTP that intermittently works.
I am often having network issues maybe that the Internet connection router is too far I have a second one running as a hub just to extend the connection.
The second question is how do I get Cyrillic EPG and Program names are all scrambled.
Thank you in advance. This really is the most recent and complete image out there! Thank you very much the effort gone into that.Comment

I'm no expert but DCC is what a lot of people, including me, use to connect to the DM500s.
Are you sure you have the network in DCC setup correctly?
Have you got the correct I/P address for the box and router entered?
Are you using the correct login name and password for the box?Comment

Hi all, I am new to the satellite world and have been looking at the Amiko Alien 2+ Triple to replace a failed Humax FOX-T2 but rather than spend a lot of money to find that I am incapable of doing the sort of stuff I have read about I have come across this thread and found an advert for a Dream Multimedia DM500s on fleabay for ?20.00 plus ?9.00 p&p and wonder if you guys can tell me if this would be a good starter box. I have an old sly box dish (although I did cut the cables that came into the house so I would need to either renew or make a connection).
Any advise would be gratefully received

If you have never had an Enigma box before then a good cheap start for ?20 you cant go wrong, Its not HD but will give you some training should you wish to upgrade to an E2 box later

Just an update after re-falshing the box and connecting it directly to the Router with ADSL connection the box connects to the Network. it is accessible via FTP and shows downloadable Addons.
I flashed a Gemini Project image and that had a Cyrillic downloadable Addon Locale. I will try running that on the Commando image later once I have sorted out the network connectivity issues. Will let you guys know if that works.Comment

Attention users still on C14.7 please!!!
When Commando 15.0 DM500 was released a couple of weeks ago, Team Commando had made the decision to go for a fresh start with an image reflash, and stated that we did NOT have any plans to make a C15.0 upgrade available as a C14.7 Online Update.
We have mellowed... We realize that there are a number of C14.7 users out there who cannot (for one reason or another) apply the easy reflash procedure and get the latest C15.0b release and update from yesterday, 15 Feb 2014, up and running...
So, press your Online Update button NOW, and you'll be on C15.0b inside 2 minutes! Please be aware that it will STILL be a fresh start, though!
1. The update will NOT affect any personal 3rd party files that may have been added to our FTA image (for testing and educational purposes), promise!
2. Please run SML again when prompted at boot. Same GUI, but underlying coding has changed in C15 - if you miss it, go BLUE > BLUE > GREEN and there is SML, only takes a few secs... As the default location is London, with a bang up to date set of services and bouquets.
3. And then run AutoBouquets on BLUE > 2 and prepare to be gobsmacked!
Welcome to Commando 15.0b !!!
Cheers- TCComment

Well, it WAS bang up to date until this morning, when the temporary "Sky Valentine" reverted to "Sky DramaRom" and "Sky Greats" temporarily changed to "Sky Oscars".
Not to worry, though. The infobar picons are all still preserved, and AutoBouquets detects these changes and applies them to your new bouquets.
Not to mention that the same changes are also reflected in the new GetEPG map that is created AND in the rtmap.xml file IF the user is running RT-EPG mode!
It's great to be in control, innit? Cheers- ALComment

Seems to me, on closer examination today, that "BBCi" isn't being populated into the "BBC Interactive" bouquet in any case, therefore this now empty bouquet will no longer show onscreen in the bouquet list.
The reason, I think, is that Sly have changed their channel number and epg data from 65535,2051 to 977,2051
And LraiZer (who is away on a well-earned vacation at present) hard-coded the original pairing into his reader binary, I think... No big deal, and we don't know what Sly/BBC will do with this, once the Winter Olympics are over...
So a quick and dirty fix for this temporary (?) hiccup is to append these two new lines to the bottom of the #05 - Sports bouquet secton of 'your' /var/etc/custom_sort_?.txt user sortfile, and then run AutoBouquets with BLUE > 2
05=977
05=978
(ensure you have a BLANK line before the start of the next #06 - News bouquet, please!)
Voil?! Also, somewhere around June 2013, the picon for "Sky Oscars" got mixed up with a test one for "Sky 007". Ronans original one for "Sky Oscars" is attached, and updated in the package for the next C15.0c online update, so we don't forget, LOL! Just knock off the .txt extension and ftp it to /var/etc/icons and overwrite the existing bum picon.
All good fun, eh? Cheers- TCAttached FilesComment

New C15.0b online update 20 Feb 2014
Auntie decided to rename every single BBC channel (except "BBC NEWS") earlier this morning, making a right old mess of our Picons!
The oiks at Sly even managed to rename "BBC FOUR" to "BBC Four__" (that's right, not one space on the end of the name, but TWO, LMAO!).
Anyway, hit your onllne update buttons, coz AL has got it all sorted out for you!
Cheers- ALComment
