    dm500hd no LED

There is a red light inside the box and a green light at the ethernet port when I turn it on, but no display on LED
So I cant read IP for flashing
Is there another way to flash the box apart from using IP

    Use a null modem cable.

you need a a/b mini usb cable the same as used
to connect a digital camera to the computer and
use a dreamup panel and use the last known ip for the box
i got a long cable from maplins also take a look at this thread

also if a clone box you need a patched dreamup version

I think that if there is no jtag then the box is dead
Using mini USB and ethernet cable , I can see ip but dreamup wont recognise the box. It prepares the connection and then says now turn on your dreambox, but when I do nothing happens
What bothers me is I get no light at the front of the box - nothing
but as I said there is activity lights at the ethernet port nad the red lights inside the box and the fan spins, strange, anyone else got this?

I had a similar problem with dream up not recognising my box , so I tried about 4 different versions of dream up - old ones new ones and latest ones and eventually one of them worked. Oh and dm500 hd doesn't have an led display just green or red light ,the ip comes up on your tv screen.

              Thanks for reply
Ive tried dreamup 1321,1334, 1335, and a patched one by natas and forhike with no joy
I managed to get an ip from the box
(hit and miss, sometimes recognised but not always
              - but dreamup doesnt recognise the box when I power it up)

              here is the telnet readout

There is a post on here by "benny/9 " 'Dm500hd dream up problem?!' its in dm500hd section ,Have a look at that post and see if it's any help to you. Also there is a program called flash wizard some people use for flashing ,I've never used it myself so I can't comment about it.

Hi its also post #4 in this thread
I started off trying to flash with dreamup using the miniusb
Windows 7 sees the box and installs driver
I can put in a an IP and dreamup says now power up your dreambox when I click connect, but when I power up....nothing happens
Ive tried dreamup 1324, 1334 1335 and natas and forhike
The only response Ive got is using telnet, and I can see the folders using ftp
so I think it should be possible to flash the box somehow

What do you get when you hold the button on the front of the dreambox and then power on from the wall ?

Its the same whether I press the button or not

                      First
dm500hd newenigma logo and please wait message appears
                      then
dm500hd newenigma logo meassage changes to booting...
                      then
dm500hd newenigma logo message changes to starting..
then a message box appears "service unavailable check configuration"
this times out and the box hangs with
                      dm500hd newenigma logo starting...
Nothing happens when I press remote.

What is supposed to happen when I press the button on the front of the box?

You hold the button on the front of your box when it's powered off from the wall , keep holding and power on from the wall ,after a few seconds the details of your box including ip address should come up on your tv screen and that is your box in flashing mode via ethernet .

As I said there is nodifference when I keep the button pressed or not
                          Maybe the buton is faulty

                              Yes I sorted it out
I played around with the cable connector that conncets the front remotes sensor and button
It had 8 wires but connector only had 6 pins. They were not connected right thats why button didnt work
