playing video files on dreambox

wonder if anyone can help? I have a dreambox 500hd with external harddrive and found I can transfer video files ( avi. Mpeg. Mp4 ect) from my computer over my network to my external harddrive and view them on my media player on dreambox which is handy. But I have a dm 500 and want to do the same view files on it to.Question is does anyone know if there is a way to do this? Im sure ive heard of a way to link your harddrive from pc over your network to dm 500.So was wondering how to do this and if theres away to view video files from pc on dm 500?

yes there is m8 you have to install vlc player and config it to your dreambox think there is a tut on here somewhere

sure ive tryed that before but couldnt get it to work

you no it only works on vlc version 8.6 i think

thanks downloaded that version but not sure how to get it to work.Do u have to download a vlc plugin on the dm 500 if so how do you? are there any guides on here?

think you have to download plugin called movie player

how do I download plugins to the dm 500? cant find plugins in the menu like they are on the dm 500HD
