with a clone dreambox you need a patched dreamup loader panel and you leave the box switched off at the rear switch until you click connect and the loader says turn the dreambox on,it will then upload from the dm500hd and then go into http mode now you can send a new image to the box using the panel. and the box should clear.

i have also just checked on the image you flashed
and it looks like you have flashed a sim 2.10 image
so you could need to loaded the 84 bootloader file
before a new image

Thanks a lot for the reply benny/9.

I have been using a special version of dreamup for ferrari sims that I found recommeded on another forum, so I believe that it must be a patched version, and I have been following all of the steps that you listed in the first half of your post above, but it always uploaded the flash loader and initialised the HTTP fine but then got stuck on 'calculating checksum' when I tried to flash.

I used wireshark to capture traffic on my ethernet port as I plugged in the dreambox, and discovered that it was using the ip address 0.0.0.0, which I thought was very strange. To my surprise, when I tried using dreamup again using that ip, it began uploading the image file to the box. However after it flashed it, this error popped up: "error 010 INVALID IMAGE (OR OLD VERSION) box is now not Usable"

How would I go about loading the 84 bootloader file, is that done with dreamup? Presuming that my dreambox is still fixable that is.

Also could you recommend an image / bootloader combination that will definitely work, as I don't want to make the same mistake again. I know its a ferrari sim but I dont know if I need 2.0, 2.1 etc.

Okay I flashed "sim2 500HD ssl84 0929" to the box using dreambox.

I then rebooted it, and flashed "sim2-oozoon-3-2-4-dm500hd-84b.riyad66" to the box.

However it was still the same when I rebooted it, green light remains on, blank screen, Red light on inside the box. (Saw it referred to as Green light of death)

Is it savable, or is it bricked I wonder?

Hopefully I'm just flashing the wrong image again. I went through about 20 images before I got one that would work about 6 months back when I flashed the Merlin image to it.

before the box was re imaged you say
it was a ferrari sim box are you sure of this?
did it say ferrari on the box lcd screen when
it booted up before you tried the nemesis image? this is the loader panel i used for both dm500hd and the dm800se models, also have
you tried turning the box off at the back and then holding the front button and turning on
to see if you get the box info and ip on the tv screen if does load the info you can try flashing
the 84botloader file and a correct image for your sim with the firefox browser

Yeah, it says "sim ferrrari inside" on the bottom of the box, and I opened it up today, and seen the ferrari sim card.

The box didn't display ferrari on the box lcd screen. This is what the box looks like, very small display on it:

Yeah, I've tried turning off at the back and holding the front button, that how I flashed the nemesis image, but it won't even boot to that screen now. Just blank screen, with green light constantly on.

I've flashed a 84 bootloader (the one listed above) and then an image (also listed above). But that didn't work. either. Any image in particular you'd recommend?

I tried sunray flasher before but it usually freezes on "waiting for acknowledgment". I'll try the version you've posted there now

your right mate i was thinking of the dm800
the dm500 hasn't got a lcd screen,also
just anouther thought you do have the ethernet cat5 cable as well as the a/b camera type cable connected from the box and you have put a tick in the box on the dreamup loader.

Yeah cat5 is connected, and the usb to mini usb is connected from the computer to the service slot on the dreambox, and the network box is ticked

The images are being successfully flashed, but the box is just not booting after the flash.

Do you know what the stock image would be for a DM500HD ferrari sim? I could try putting that image on

it sounds like a bootloader problem
you load the 84 bootloader and then
close the dreamup panel and with the switch
on the rear panel of the box turn off and then on again to reboot and lock the boot loader in then back to the dreamup and with it go though the upload from the box and then flasha ferrari image for your model on the box, then it should boot up
and work.

However I will keep trying it with different images, and hopefully it will work

you can only use ferrari images on a ferrari sim
it wont boot if you use sim 2 images

I've just downloaded an image called GP3 Ferrari SSL87F, so I will try this now. I presume I would need a 87 bootloader for this image, is that correct?

but i would use the boot loader if it's there to download or
try the 84 and the image first
