dreambox connected directly to modem

I've connected my dreambox directly to a spare modem i have so it's Independent to everything else on my network (DL makes it freeze) but when it was connected to my network i had various ports enabled and disabled to keep my box secure from being targetted from the net.
Is there any plugins or anything that will enable me to secure the ports again on the dreambox while connected directly to a the modem ?

ps its a DM7020 with gemini e2 test imagie on (willing to change to e1 )

you could always change the password on your modem to a more complex one, also do the same for your box, just change the password..

i am interested in this too but im wondering how i would talk to my box ie ftp from my own pc

would i be right in thinking the other modem will have a different ip so i would need to assign it a new dydns account to connect the box to the net and how would i port forward to the box through the cable modem

i use a router at the minute and think it would be quicker direct through a modem if possible
