backup before flashing

I've got a Dm800HD box which i use for freeview channels. its currently connected to my satellite dish. The image is quite old (Gemini Project II). I want to flash a new image but before I do I wanted to confirm what files I need to back up before flashing.

I have extracted the var and etc folders. Is there anything else i need? All i want to be able to do is get the freeview channels after flashing.

I always do a full image backup so that if anything goes wrong you can go back and start again if any mistakes are made.
