PuTTY / dreambox 800HD password problem

Hi guys!
I am trying to use PuTTY to connect to my original DB 800HD
I never changed the password for the box but, when I try and connect via PuTTY the password "dreambox" is not recognised.
However, if I connect via ftp and use the same "root" and "dreambox" I'm in in a flash?
I tried changing images but it doesn't make any difference.
Any ideas?

Try the "Telnet" function on Putty, as most probably you have no password at all, and under SSH you cannot login on a box with no password, but under FTP/Telnet you can,
