Make your server invisible

Hi All i have a dreambox server that i share with friends and family,
What i would like to know is how to make my server invisible, for example my server being in another country but actually still being at home.
I have been reading that it is something to do with a vpn.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

i already have a dns, with this vpn will all my peers have to use it aswell, id rather just me do it for now. Any tutorials on it?
