Dreambox dm500s scan problem

hi i have a dreambox dm500s and all the channels had froze i dont know if this was due to the ccam or images or what ever but the screen just went totally blank i then downlaoded gemini 4.7 off the dreambox automatically for an update,

the channels came back but the problem now is that when i try a scan its all ok till the last 5 seconds and a message comes up saying var/tuxbox/config/enigma!??

PLEASE COULD SOME ONE ADVISE, i have seen a few threads but like i said i have bought this box of some one else and i dont know a thing about Dreamboxes but hopefully trying to learn so i can probably set the next one up myself,

i read that you have to do a factory reset or re flash youre box? either way will i lose my keys or the paid channels please do advise thanks

ftp you cccam cfg file form the box.

Factory reset box.

Download CCcam again and ftp the cgf back to box. Reload channel setting by fresg scan or pre done from here

DB Edit
Dreambox edit is a good tool for organising your bouquets and Sat.
Below is a straight forward guide with the program for you to use. The program will also work with other linux based boxes and not just a dreambox.

DCC
DCC is a handy tool for ftp, telnet and much more.
Here is a simple guide to set it up. This will show you how it should look and also how to change the default password for your dreambox.

Read through that, basic enough.

if ure getting subbed channels on ure box then most likely the server information will be stored in the file CCcam.cfg located in var/etc so you need to back up that file or you will have to ask who ever gave you it to get it back.

i have checked this but whilst checking the files of the root nothing shows up or am i suppose to do this whilst connecting to the pc? confused.com thank you for the reply

the only problem i have is when i scan i can not finish it as that message comes up thats all

Connect you box to your router.

Open up DCC anf follow the instructions.

Did you see the 3 green lines like the picture showed to say the network was connected ?

Hi thanks problem is solved i just played around with it i went onto updates and i think probably the image was diffrent or older to the Gemini one i installed, as i did an auto update of Gemini 4.7 2009 off the box i got onto the box and installed a don file which obvioulsy once downloaded deleted all my original Bouqets with the box, took me a while making all the Bouqets again but thank you very much every one for the helpfull responses,

I have one question? obviously i am using a single Normal sly Dish and the 28.2 Astrabird only works when i downloaded this update many other Sattile providers have turned up such as Arabic 19.8 etc etc there are many channels but none of them seem to work,

Would these only work on a motorizes dish? if so please can some one explain thanks

i hope you have a genuine dm500, because if you downloaded gemini 4.7 its not safe on clones, anything up to 4.2 is safe, any firmware past that if using cloned box, you need to find patched version, dont download direct from gemini.

so if your box is clone, get rid of that software

How would i know if its a Clone box? as i have just checked the box and on it says DM500-S dream multimedia so im sure this would be an orgininal box,? thanks for the reply,

i am still reading up on all the threads to many to actually know how to set up a Dreambox but im getting there,

most boxes now are clones as 500 dream haven't been made in the last 2 years m8 but it don't matter coz most images are clone safe so no worries

Hi i paid the full amount the box was ready made with the special service of which you know what, i paid ?150 but im looking to do this myself as it looks easy once youve got youre head around it, i just wanted to connect it up and play thats all,

hi thanks for the feedback the box doesnt look like a close it does say dream mutlimedia on it etc so im guessing its an origninal? but hey you know better, i would like to know would i need the motorrized dish to get the other sattiliets please do advise as i have more then one connection on my current dish

yep its a clone..ignore what it says ..and yeah u need motorised dish to get any more than 1 sat
