    Dreambox 500S Help Needed

Tried to flash new image on my dreambox using null modem cable. Everything goes fine until I try to upload new image. Upload runs for approx. 20 seconds then stops with a info box appearing "Error- Aborted by User, Exiting". Box will not respond to any I.P. ping although I must keep the ethernet cable connected as well for the box to show "box is alive and talking to us ".
I have tried three different images from Darkstar etc., all do the same.
Box will not now operate. No images on T.V. and remote control does not do anything. H....E....L...P

This is the 3rd thread you have started asking the same question and you have been given answers so please stop asking the same question all over the place as it will make it easier for members to help you and not go over the same solutions again and again
      stick to one thread here

Did that already. Still the same. I saw a link on another thread advising to down load a file from Dreambox website but I can't find anything for the DM500s other than a firmware file.

I did a backup before I started. It is an 8M file. I changed the file name to backup.img. Is there any way to upload this back into the box???

I used the backup button on dreamup and saved the file as "backup". It saved it ok. I tried uploading different .img files but kept getting an error", aborted by user message. I tried uploading a copy of the backup file, having renamed it backup.img but still the same message.

Did you try the telnet way to flash a image on from the download section
                  disable your antivirus a firewall
also try a different versions of dreamup to flash a new image on.

the error aborted bu user message means you are using the wrong version of dreamup ,you can download a version of dreamup thats works on a dm500s by clicking on the last link of my signature area.
i love it when a dreambox comes together.

piopat, you and Fergal ARE THE MEN. I downloaded an earlier version and now, the unit is working but the instructions I have to share my card tells me to edit a ccam.cfg which doesn't exist. I downloaded the image from Darkstar 2. Initially, I had done a backup using Dreamup but I do not know if this file will be of any help. When I log on using DCC the box states
                      "Telnet Connected
                      FTP Connected
                      Model DM500 detected.
                      Bootmanager: not found"

I have a file on my desktop called Bootmanager containing a sub folder "skins" with six sub folders blank, mercedes, california etc.
Thankyou for helping me (and Fergal as well). How can I proceed to get these other things (clines etc.)

You have to download and install cccam via the addons menu usually via the coloured buttons but it only works on certain images otherwise you will have to install it manually
what image did you flash on?

fergal is correct press yellow button twice ,open addons download manager ,open nabilo image cams ,scroll down the list of cams untill you see cccam 2.1.3 complete and choose it by pressing the ok button .

now you will see aprompt asking if you want to install addon (say yes ) if you get a second prompt say yes ,the cam installs in seconds . when the cam is installed exit back to the tv channels and press the blue button ,you will see default cam and to the right of that you will see either default or common interface (depending on your box ) press the right button on thr remote untill default is replaced by cccam and when you see cccam press the ok button ,now exit back to tv channels .

cccam is now installed and the cccam.cfg file is in the var/etc folder in your box ,you will need dream control center (or simillar) to edit the file you can download it from the last link of my signature area .

sharing talk is not allowed so if you have any questions in that respect you need to ask them via pm .talk soon mate.
