newbie problem

Hi guys.I am new in dreambox and i have some question i could found on the net.First of all i just bought dm500s i search for channels on hotbird 13e and it didn't find anything.The snr was 65%.Must be a dish problem right? i would like to know if i need to flash it to get free channels?

No usually OK for FTA without flashing.

Obviously your scanning for channels and cant get any?

What image (software) have you got loaded (first screen when booting up will tell you)?

It can be hard to get started as you're not sure of hardware or software, but its well worth the hassle.

Can you check the box on a sky dish?

thanks for your quick reply.when the dreambox starts says gemini project.my first thought was the sky dish problem because of the low snr.it can be anything else?

Must i flash it to see the free channels such as bbc?

im sure you're supposed to set the transponder on astra 28.2 mate and then scan for the channels

Yes, as previous poster said, if your using a sky dish they're fixed at 28.2. You wont receive any other satellites (unless you motorise it, which I've seen done!).

you wont have to motorise your dish if you want to recieve fta on hotbird 13e. all you need to do is realign your dish (point it at 13e) job done
