Dreamup not recognising Dm500. I'm using usb to serial

I'm using a usb to serial adaptor. In control panal/system/devices it is listed as a com port, COM1, and all the drivers have successfully installed.

when using dreamup I have went through every version i could find but my box just isnt getting recognised.

its not my box or my null modem cable thats the problem as they both worked on a mate pc with serial port.

has anybody any ideas what else I could try?

Must be something wrong with your drivers if its working on another pc on serial port.

if your mate has a pc with the 9 pin serial port bring your box to his house and connect it to his pc using just the null modem cable .you will only need his pc for about 12 minutes .save the image and dreamup to a usb memory stick to use on your mates pc ,or if he has the internet download them on his pc .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.

finally, after weeks and weeks of trying everything i finally got it working.

i went through 4 different usb-serial convertors, tried 3 different null modem cables, 12 different versions of dreamup. all in combination.

finally got it working by using:

            the maplin usb-serial
            the maplin null modem cable
            dreamup version 1.3.2.1
