    Dreambox DM518-s as a replacement?

    Hi folks,

    New here and greetings to you all Need a little help and advice regarding buying a dreambox DM 518-S as a substitute to my pre paid sat TV.

    As the price of our local pre paid sat TV gets higher, I finally decided to Terminate the services and am now left missing those football Live matches this coming august. An enginner friend of mine told to try the Dreambox receiver. But I am a noob in this area and was hoping that any of you could help me.

    I already have the proper Dish and Aligment of the old set up and was wondering if The Dreambox could Ultilise the old set up? What are the the things I need to do get it to work? And by the way i have a broadband Internet connection as I believe I need to connect it there.

    Please Help me with a simple step by step explaination ( That's if The DM 518-S ) works with my old Nokia Astro smart card system.

      get a 500s, then come back mate. it will work with ur existing dish no probs

          get a dm500 or any other dreambox with a working cardreader if you intend using your own card
          the dm518 has a card slot but no internal cardreader
          and finally google 'cardsharing'

                  Wow!....Didn't know there's that it's an empty slot... Will try to get the 500s and come back here to learn more from you guys....

                      It amazes me that people are always saying there is no card reader in the DM518 "YES THERE IS "and im yet to see one that hasn't.

                      I have two of them and both mine do.

                      People also say theres no HD output funny cos im see component ycbcr/ypbpr at the back.

                      I would sooner a 518 than a 500 any day.
