Dreambox 500s & Virgin Media Super Hub

Hi Guys, My dad got a dreambox from a guy thats already setup for the year, it was working fine no problems at all until i upgraded the internet from 20mbit to 30mbit, with this change we got the new Virgin Media Super Hub, Now it doesnt work anymore, as if to say its not picking up a internet connection, it detects being plugged in (see it on router settings) but its just not working, Box has a pin on it and dcc doesnt let me access it with root/dreambox, oh also when i press blue button the plugin menu doesnt appear , weve asked the guy who we got it from to help but said he cant as it worked when he gave it us and we change the net, can anybody help? if i flash i imagine it will lose all the server details

Have you tried plugging your old router between the Superhub and the dreambox? Reading the reviews of the superhub it said that for some specialist requirements it easier to plug your old router into the superhub and run whatever you are having problems with using the old router.

i've tried to restart the hub but it didnt work, cant restart network on box because i cant get into setup as it has a pin, also tried using my router with the superhub but it didnt work , there must be something blocking the dreambox from getting the internet)

I was told to disable wireless & disable two services then i could use old router? i've heard rumours of a fw upgrade to let you use it as a modem only and also switching it into bridge mode, anybody know what the right thing to do is?

Is your box trying to use a static IP? You should goto the network settings on your dreambox and make sure it's using DHCP to automatically assign an IP.

This is your solution above. The seller fixed your IP. you need to make the box chose automatically.

Old Virgin media local IP was 192.168.1.1 and for the new super hub it will change to 192.168.0.1

On my router I can choose which range I want so it might be possible on the superhub to use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.

could it be that the superhub has a different ip addy from his old modem and his old modem ip addy is locked to his cline?

I cant get into network settings as i dont have pin code, i can run the ipconfig script and it does show the ip address etc, it has changed a few times over the past few weeks so it migbht already be dhcp, what you said about the virgin media local ip, if i change it to 192.168.1.1, do you think it could work? I'll give that a go, i'll change it to 192.168.1.1 and see if it helps.

Can i read the dreambox network settings without having a pin? or dcc user/pass?

Your superhub default login details are:

                    Username: admin
                    Password: changeme

I went to menu then games then pressed blue and u can select ipconfig, i was hoping changing the router ip to 192.168.1.1 was going to work but no luck , just shows what the dreambox ip and mac address is, looks like a dead end

If i am not wrong superhub ip address are 192.168.0.1 not 192.168.1.1 upwards i don't think it will work with the 1 in it.
Plus supperhubs are complete crap been through 2 of them already
Plus if you keep unplugging and resting your supperhub you may lose the static address of that and it can and dose change so any remote dns will not be able to find you.
just change your dm ip address to 192.168.0.12 and keep dchp un ticked if you are not sure let the wizard set it up first then untick dchp and put in 192.168.0.12

untic dhcp put in yer own values like gateway would be the ip of the router 192.0.000.000 ip 192.168.1.9 subnet mask is always 255.255.255.0

sorry was reading another thread i'll leave it for a bit sorry
