      A 4-digit pin? Try 0000.

You could probably SSH into the box and run some commands with your default login details.

      Username: root
      Password: dreambox

In this post you said you could view your network settings on the dreambox but in your other posts you said it asks for a pin. I think I am confused.

Ive tried loads of pins, 0000 1234 and all the first guess default ones, i've also tried to access via root/dreambox but i believe that password has been changed too, when i said i could view the network details i meant there is a script called ipconfig that shows me the mac & ip of the box, but thats just a script i can run from the games menu, i cant go into setup , i hope this makes sense now

            try this
use FTP to /var/tuxbox/config/enigma -> file config

            open config / search:
            i:/elitedvb/pins/parentallock=xxxxxx

the passord will be in hxidecimal so you will need a hex calculater to read it

Sounds like Ftp access is a no go
If tuxbox is available you can access it that way
Or install tuxbox via addons menu
But by the sounds of it your server will have alliminated that as well
              Hope this helps ..................Paul

Your in trouble if the seller can't/won't give you the root password. Without reflashing the image, there isn't really any easy way to access your box. Did you pay a lot for the line installed on it? I'd be inclined to reflash and find a new server.

I said above there is no EASY way to find your password, but there might be a way. It involves setting up a DNS server on your computer and "tricking" the box into thinking its installing a package from it's addon server - which will be a new /var/etc/passwd file. Below is info copied from another site:

                          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          The hard but doable way:
                          1. I would download and install a free DNS server for either windows or linux. Bind would do. I would then find out what server for example Hydra (if thats what you're using) downloads plugins from by examining the cpanel of another box or by simply asking for the URL here.

                          2. I would then add a zone for that host in my newly installed DNS server and point it to my personal web server for which I have full control over, and then change the DNS server used in the dreambox to point to that DNS server (In Network setup).

                          3. At last I would create a new tar.gz file called the same as one of the plugins available for download, and place that in the correct folder on my web server. This file would contain just a new version of the file /var/etc/passwd.

                          4. Download the plugin from cpanel, and voila, you have successfully resetted your password.

                          The easy way:
Ask the imagemaker of your image to make a download called 'Password Reset' containing just a fresh version of /var/etc/passwd and place that on their list of available downloads.
