Messed up dm500

Had jade image and ccam installed easily. Was using a guide involving dreamboxedit to send boquet over. Upon reboot the jade green image froze and I could not reboot. Tried reflashing and it still froze on jade image screen. Can no longer telnet or ftp, pulled power lead out and turned on again and just have a black screen.

What can I do now?

Mine locks up every single time after DBedit reboots it. Turning it off at the mains for 5 mins usually solves it. PLi Jade is pretty outdated now. Try OpenPLi beta. There are a few nightly builds for sim 2.01 on dreamoem.com.

Edit: just noticed your talking about the 500. Sorry. I'm pretty sure there's still an OpenPLi for the 500 though.

As I tried reflashing it and now getting black screen on reboot and inability to telnet I think its completely messed up.

Is there any way to factory reset it from the box, like the paper clip method on routers.......

Yip there is an open pli for 500 been running it for about a month no problems what so ever

Can you not use dream up

DreamUp (with a null modem cable) should flash it even if it fails to boot. As a last resort, I'm pretty sure you can JTAG 500s.

Is this the correct cable, I will have to travel a bit to get it so really counting on it being the right one and it working....

Yeah, that null modem cable will do. They are much cheaper on fleabay and pretty swift delivery too.

Before you re-flash, do a flash erase a few times
