dm 500s home plugs vodafone dongle!!!!

have a dell pc in bedroom, connected with wifi dongle vodafone 3gig a month..., have connected ethernet cable from back of pc, to home plug...
with pc running, and connected to vodafone internet...

in front room, have home plug, connected to dm 500s via ethernet, dm500s, will then be connected to 1 metre dish, has anyone got this set up working through a payg dongle, and does it work, or do i need a router, or somethingwifi on the dm to receive dat... as it stands i have devilo home plugs, and all lights are green at both ends, howing data, ethernet, power and so on, just wanted to know if theres any other equipment i need before i connect dish, thanks...

Few have tried with limited success, think you will need a certain router for the job so let us know how you get on was looking at this for a mate a while back, will find you the link for the routers.

i have a feeling that my first post idea may work, as i was connected to x-box live last year through same method except the home plugs, vodafone dongle in usb, ethernet out off back of pc into x-box , and it worked,,,i was connected on internet and able to play with other gamers...

The wifi dongle is an option other than home plugs, (but will need an wifi router to connect to, if you got internet connection sharing enabled on the PC, then in to your home plugs that's all you need, no wifi needed as you sending data over your mains circuit,

ok, think i've got it, i have payg dongle, but 2 home plugs from pervious installation with an incoming bb conection with router.

, if i have my payg dongle, which is wifi, and have internet connection shared, wll i then send signal down ethernet port on back of pc, into home plugs, or will this not work, can't see where the wireless 3g router comes in unless my vodafone dongle goes in that, then ethernet out to home plugs!!!!!

                would that be right?? thanks

On a standard set up with homeplugs you have one homeplug plugged from mains into router via ethernet.
Other homeplug is then from mains to dreambox via ethernet.

yes , thats right andy , but the router is just pumping internet into the homeplugs via the ethernet cable ,
A ethernet cable from pc (with internet sharing enabled) would surely output the same kind of data connection out as the router would ,
Or am i missing something obvious here ???

andy, i know he hasnt got a router , i was just generalising , saying that homeplugs work from a router by using the ethernet out connection ,therefore same type of connection/data transfer as the ethernet out on pc (with enabled i-s)

well we see how it goes, one pc, one wifi vodafone dongle,2 home plugs one dm500s, and a 1 metre dish. going to enable internet connection share ,on pc eterne intohme plug n bedro, then ethernet out into dmbox, in front room... nice weather the day to do it, thanks for the advice people, oh andy will the 3g router you speak off will that increase the wifi connection then, there is no hard wired broadband into property so i'm assuming this router you speak off is for this type of wireless set up..???

ok so i needed to find out the hard way, there is no facilty in D C C, to apply an ip adress to a dongle only a router, which means all the above now makes sense, a wireless router WITH VODAFONE DONGLE in it, will obviously give me an ip address, unless theres another way any tips???
