dreambox 500s setup please with mortorised dish

    hi all

previous thread here in the technomate area: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...2/#post1222713

thanks for the replies guys, well this is what happened:

my mate heard I was having probs and got me intouch with afriend of his who bought me a DM500S

he tried to install it for me today but had trouble getting the reciever setup with the dish.
the dish was at hotbird (13 deg) and when the dreambox was in hotbird scanned fine and had plenty of channels, but then we could not track any other satellites, he also had a problem with the software i.e. was not unlocking any scrambles....I checked teh router cable and that was working........he has now taken it back home to test it on his set up.....Can anyone please help with setting up this reciver with the diseque dish??

ps when istalling we chose multiple sats on diseque motor, it seemed the only option for mutiple satalites

    any help appreciated.

Can a mod please also if they can move this thread to Dreambox one if they can

    Thanks

Ok an update still trying to set up motorised dish. Stuck at hotbird. On a separate matter, when we scanned hotbird the channels were still scrambled. He took it to his place and used that same receiver and all was well. I.e the channels opened no problem. I am with virgin media and am connecting direct from router to dm500 but not unscrambling at my place !! He said could be the ethernt cable. We tested this with a laptop and no probs connecting to the net. He is with talk talk. Is virgin problematic when it comes to the dm500s ??? A bit lost now as I don't understand why it works at his place and not at mine (the descrambling). Any help appreciated please

Probably cos your sharing and your not meant to be and did you change the network settings?
Different router means different ip for dreambox and gateway, nameserver etc

Update. I called the fella who provided the box and after testing it again at his place then reinstalling at my place all seemed to work fine. I do however still have an annoying problem when moving the dish for example I move from 28.8 to 13 degrees and sometimes even though I am at 13 degrees there is a message on the screen that says moving to 13 degrees. And this message is still on the screen while watching a channel. I have to move the dish a few times east and west then for some reason the message disappears. Anyone encountered this on a disec motor with the dm500s.?
Sorry to the last poster can't be anymore helpful ad to how the initial problem was solved as it was all far too technical for me when matey was fixing it. Rhanks fir ur help in advance regarding the annoying message
