    cant connect to 500s

Hi folks.. thought id ask the question before i toss it in the bin..

i have a 500s clone..i flashed with PLi image but now all i get when it boots up is the PLi picture on the screen for about 5 seconds..and then it just flashes on and off.

cant get anything to connect to the box as im not getting an IP address.

so i bought the null cable...had to fix a dm800 with the null cable first..that worked fine..so the cable/pc is ok...

wont connect to the dm500 at all... ive tried a few different versions of dreamup.. still nothing... is it savable? or could i swap bits over from my old 500c? tuner etc?

    thanks in advance folks

I too had problems using a null cable to flash a DM500 clone. The cable also worked fine on my DM800. Also tried various versions of DreamUp without success.

In the end I used DreamUpLAN v 120 to flash by connecting DM500 to my netbook using a network cable though cant remember if it was a straight or cross over cable.

It was becoming a PITA but once I tried the DreamUpLAN it worked first time.

Hope you get it sorted out mate.

tried both of the above suggestions...still nothing...dreamup just sits there waiting for a connection...

any other ideas? or just bin it?

U r turning box off and on at the back ? I'm sure u r but u never now , also it might have a ip address l use network magic and that finds the boxes ip u can down load trail just to see and uninstall after then use FTP program and flash over that ,

Hi, im pulling the power lead out of the dreambox then plugging in the null cable...clicking on connect...then when it tells me to power up the dm i put the power lead in.

weirdly DCC gave me an IP address a short while ago...but nothing will connect to it...flashfxp / etc... not even DCC will connect...

im using the USB converter cable plugged into a null cable...im gonna try and find someone with a serial con on their pc tomorrow so i can rule cable fault out...

strange that i flashed my 800 2 days ago using the same setup though

well for some reason the pc (win 7 ) assigns com 7 to my cable..so i select com 7 in dream up.. the cable has been left in since i flashed the 800hd and is still showing as com 7 in device manager
