Frozen Dreambox 500-s

Hi

I have a dreambox 500-s which has frozen on me, it happened when i pulled out the power cable whilst the box was powered on,

Now i only get the green LED on when i power up and nothing else

The box has a PLi Jade image (dont know what version)
Also iv lost the password for the box

Is my box repairable?

Do i have to reflash the box or jtag it?

Iv ordered a usb to serial cable off ebay
i will make/order a jtag cable if need be, but one thing i dont have a parralel port on my laptop for the jtag cable, how do i get around this?

just needs flashing again m8 ,

but they can have power brick problems , l had one that worked for a year , l dont turn boxes off and wife pulled plug out and did this and l couldnt even flash it without problems and changed brick and cleared straightaway

i used to leave the box on stand by aswel, but i accidently pulled out the power cable iv only been researching on this subject for one day, so can you help me out mate please, where do i get the new image file from? will i only need the usb to serial cable to connect the box to my laptop?

If i succesfully reflash the box then will the password be resseted too?

your password will be resetting too after flashing.. u can use dream up with nullmodem cable plug at com port include either u r using usb to serial. if still cant flasing then u need use jtag

power supply m8 , they drop the volts , no idea why and they cant power up the tuner but will have some volts to get to the start of the boot

is the nullmodem cable different to the usb to serial cable?

ok now iv bought a usb to serial cable, a 9 pin male to male null modem and a female to female null modem cable,

is this all i need

thanks for the clarification m8, i will try to flash the box first, if no luck i will get back to you for some advice on how to change the power supply

the power supply is the little box between the plug and your box . have u another supply from another box

oh i was thinking you was talking a bout a chip or something inside the box

yes i have tried another power supply off a diffrent box but no luck m8,

can you tell me where i can get a male to male null modem/adapter?

a null modem cabel is different to a serial cable so you need a null modem cabel 9 pin female to 9 pin female that means your pc must have the same connection as you see on the rear of the box ,if it doesnt you may have problems .

click on the last link of my signature area it has a few dm500s images you can use ,i recommend the nabilo maxvar v8 image . also before you flash the box with a new image you should delete the old image (the dm500s has a very small memory) when you open dreamup look just above where you see flash and you will see flash erase (click on it ) it only takes seconds then flash as normal .

Iv also got another working dreambox and im trying to backup the image but im haveing problems doing so, im using USB to RS232 converter and a Null modem cable, Im using dreamup to connect to the box, i can connect and i can backup about 30% of the image, then i get an error saying "error while creating backup"

help me please

wtf guys, now the working box is not working, i tried to backup the image from the working box to flash the broken box, but i also got an error whilst creating backup with the new box

i switched the new box on but all im getting is the PLi Jade screen (((

It will be reset to default which is username: root and password: dreambox

use 1.3.3.3 or 1.3.3.4 version of dreamup. newer version will not working if your box is clone.
