so confused, channel lists, sat lists etc etc

I have a db500s and still learning, I would like to have about 5 sats in the box, eg 0.8w, 13e, 16e, 19e, 23,5e, and 28e but not got a clue how to get sats and channels into box ie i am lost with the terminology, is a sat.xml a list of sats only, do i scan each sat to get channels?

    what software do i use?

i have read a lot but very confused.

There are many many producers of pre-made bouquet packs ( a bouquet is basically a channel list ) some tailor for single satellite locations some tailor for many.

First thing i would do is load a new satellites.xml file to your receiver for the satellites you want to receive. The satellites.xml contains a list of the satellites you want to receive along with the transponder lists those satellites need in order for them to know where to scan for channels. now you can either manually scan each location, which is very time consuming or use a preset bouquet, or even merge a few together till you get the right selection you want. either way if you do use bouquets you will need a editor such as DreamboxEdit.

you can get the satellites.xml here

    Code:
    http://satellites-xml.eu/
a good place to start for your bouquets may be the Vhannibal packs they may contain the right combination of satellites you want.

    Code:
    http://www.vhannibal.net/index.php
you will need to use a Enigma 1 based pack for your receiver.

i presume you have a motorized dish to turn to each sat in turn to scan,if you only have a fixed dish you are locked on one sat only, and the other sats wont work.we are all learning about sat as there is plenty of help around if you need it.

another way to define enigma 1 from enigma 2 is that enigma 1 is for sd dreambox and enigma 2 is for hd dreambox
            dm500hd -dm500hd v2-vu+duo- triax 1.1m - inverto lnb - technomate 2300 motor- linksys ddwrt router
